Colorado Doula Project is seeking its next Executive Director.
Full-Time (~35 hrs/week)
Remote (Colorado-based), with regular travel in the Denver metro area
$88,000 to $98,000 + benefits
Colorado Doula Project (CDP) provides and increases access to nonjudgmental, compassionate, and empowering doula support for individuals across the spectrum of their reproductive experiences with a specific focus on abortion.
Since 2015, CDP has grown from a grassroots collective of abortion doulas into a trusted nonprofit providing emotional, logistical, and financial support to anyone getting an abortion in Colorado, no matter where they're from or who they are. Through our Abortion Support Network, we coordinate rides, funding, lodging, childcare, and volunteer-led doula support. Through our Abortion Doula Training program, we train and grow a community of skilled, compassionate abortion doulas.
We're a team of four staff supported by an extraordinary network of roughly 130 volunteer doulas and 6 dedicated intake volunteers, guided by a volunteer Board of Directors.
Colorado Doula Project (CDP) is seeking a full-time Executive Director to lead our small, mighty, and deeply mission-driven organization into its next chapter.
We're looking for a leader who can bring steady, values-driven leadership to a growing organization: someone who can manage people and money well, build real relationships with funders and partners, and help CDP turn a strong strategic vision into action while keeping our client-facing work running smoothly. We are seeking someone who can honor the organization's history while helping shape its next chapter, building upon a strong foundation of community trust, donor support, and programmatic impact while strengthening organizational systems, developing staff leadership and positioning the organization for long-term sustainability.
The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of the organization and is responsible for advancing its mission, strategic vision, financial sustainability and organizational effectiveness. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED provides leadership to staff, volunteers and external stakeholders while ensuring the organization remains grounded in reproductive justice values and responsive to the communities it serves. The ED oversees organizational strategy, fundraising, financial stewardship, program effectiveness, staff leadership and external relations. The position requires a collaborative and values-driven leader capable of balancing day-to-day operational oversight with long-term strategic growth.
Lead CDP's strategy, operations, and culture as our primary staff leader, in close partnership with our Board of Directors. Serve as a primary spokesperson and representative of the organization.
Directly supervise and support our Development Director, Abortion Support Network (ASN) Director, and Administrator.
Own the organization's financial health in partnership with the Board of Directors: budgeting, cash flow, board reporting, and compliance.
Assess emerging opportunities, challenges and risks affecting the organization and the broader abortion access landscape.
Drive fundraising strategy and personally cultivate relationships with major funders, donors, and institutional partners.
Steward and grow our volunteer-powered service model, in partnership with our ASN Director and training program. Support innovation and continuous improvement in program delivery.
Build and strengthen relationships with partner clinics, movement leaders, policymakers, community stakeholders, and reproductive health organizations across Colorado.
Lead implementation of priorities from our recent strategic planning process: sharpening our organizational purpose, building better data and systems, and reducing reliance on any one person to keep things running.
5+ years of senior leadership experience in a nonprofit, advocacy, direct service, or mission-driven organization.
A genuine, demonstrated commitment to reproductive justice and abortion access and to the values that guide our work.
Real comfort with nonprofit finances — you can read a P&L, manage cash flow, and talk budgets with a board.
A track record of fundraising success, including major gift cultivation and grant strategy.
Experience leading small teams, including staff who manage volunteers.
Strong communication skills and judgment to represent CDP well with funders, partners, media, and the public — with sensitivity to the discretion this work requires.
Colorado residency (or willingness to relocate) and availability for regular in-person meetings in the Denver metro area.
$88,000 to $98,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus benefits. This is a full-time (~35 hours/week), remote-first role based in Colorado.
Benefits include:
Paid Time Off: 4 weeks of vacation, 4 floating holidays plus federal holidays, volunteer time off, sick time, and a Winter Flex Break (approximately one week between the end of December and beginning of January, determined each year by the Executive Director).
Health Benefits: Monthly reimbursements for health insurance premiums through a Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangement (QSEHRA), up to the maximum annual limit set by the IRS.
Please send your resume and a cover letter to Board President Claudia Fernandez at cdpboard@coloradodoulaproject.org.
Applications will close after October 26, 2026. The anticipated start date for this role is January 4, 2027.
